HOMEPAGE

Lodsworth is a small village in West Sussex situated between Midhurst and Petworth, just north of the A272. It lies just to the north of the River Rother, and a small tributary stream, the 'Lod' runs close to the east end of the village. The Parish includes the hamlet of Lickfold and part of Selham.
It has a small Anglican church, St. Peters, The Hollist Arms pub and a village hall. Closeby is the Halfway Bridge Pub on the A272 and north of Lodsworth, the Lickfold Inn.
EH Shepard, the illustrator of Winnie the Pooh and The Wind in the Willows, lived near the church and is buried in the churchyard with Winnie the Pooh and Piglet engraved on his tomb.
In the census of 2001 Lodsworth had a total population of 690 within 282 households.

Miss O. ran The Studio School, Lodsworth. It was called that because it had been built as an artists studio. Although it was a substantial two-storey house it was noteworthy because one wall was filled with an enormous window
The next day there was a heavy raid on Midhurst, only a small market town, and much damage done. Later a school in Petworth received a direct hit and many children were killed....
