Road closures and delays are expected. Emergency services are currently dealing with a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on the A27, which is thought to be just west of the Pagham roundabout. Emergency services were called to the area at 4.50pm and road closures are being put in place between the Whyke roundabout and the roundabout at the junction with the B2145. The ambulance service is treating the pedestrian who is thought to be a man in his 50s. Anyone who witnessed the collision involving a white Ford Transit, is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Bantam. Time: 01:15 Location: SAINSBURYS, LYONS FARM, WORTHING Incident: RTC - car crashed into supermarket foyer - At approximately 1.15am police received a call stating that a Ford Escort had crashed through the entrance foyer at Sainsbury's at Lyons Farm. It is believed that the car had previously collided with another car in White Styles Road, Sompting. A short time after the incident three boys were arrested nearby. Three 15-year-old boys, two from Lancing and one from Southwick, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking of a motor vehicle without consent and causing damage to property of over £5000. They were released on bail until 6 and 7 January pending further enquiries. A 17-year-old boy from Lancing was arrested on Sunday [11 December] on suspicion of aggravated taking of a motor vehicle without consent and causing damage to property. He has been bailed until 7 January, pending further enquiries. It is thought the car was stolen from Busticle Lane in Sompting. Time: 13:07 Location: B2112 - Wivelsfield to Ditchling Common Incident: FATAL RTC - collision involving 2 cars - emergency services called to the B2112 between Wivelsfield and Ditchling Common, outside St Georges Retreat, where two cars, a northbound Ford Ka and a southbound Volvo S40, had collided. The front seat passenger in the Ford, a 29-year old Uckfield man, tragically died at the scene, and the driver, a 27-year old man also from Uckfield, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious but not life threatening injuries. The Volvo driver, a 66-year old Burgess Hill man, and his passenger, a 66-year old woman also from Burgess Hiil, were treated at the same hospital for cuts and bruises. At approximately 10.45pm a Ford KA and a black BMW collided on the westbound carriageway. The driver of the KA, a 21-year-old woman from Chichester, was taken to Worthing Hospital but sadly died from her injuries a short time later. The driver of the BMW, a 49-year-old man from Bexhill, was also taken to Worthing Hospital suffering from a serious leg injury. The fire started after a candle placed on a television set was left burning while the occupant was out and is thought to have melted the plastic, causing the set to catch light. Thankfully, the alarm was raised quickly after neighbours heard the smoke detector sounding and dialled 999. A fire crew from Littlehampton was on the scene within 3 minutes shortly followed by a second crew from Littlehampton and one from East Preston. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus gained access to the flat through the second floor fire escape and quickly brought the fire under control using a hose reel and a jet. With smoke logging throughout the communal areas the remaining residents were evacuated for safety and the Red Cross' Fire Emergency Support Service were on hand to offer welfare. A 17-year old local girl and an 18-year old man from Brighton were arrested at a nearby address on suspicion of arson on Wednesday evening 28 December, after a wheelie bin and the cover of an adjacent parked car in Penstone Park, Lancing, both suffered fire damage at about 8pm that evening.
