Two men robbed at knife-point in Worthing street
Police Press Release
22 September 2012
ref- PR40458 /2012

Detectives are investigating two knifepoint robberies on the same night in Worthing.

Just before 4am on Saturday 22 September a 23-year old man from Cambridgeshire who had been visiting friends in Worthing, was approached by several men in Tennyson Road. One of them threatened him with a knife and they stole some personal effects from him and ran off. He was shaken but unhurt.

At about 4.10am the same morning a 25-year old local man was attacked in nearby Broadwater Road and robbed of his mobile phone and wallet. One of the robbers was wielding a knife and the victim received cuts to his right hand and lower back for which he received treatment at Worthing Hospital.

Police believe the attacks may be linked. The suspects are described as being four in number and all male. One was described as not being white, aged about 20, with a black jumper. There are currently no descriptions of the other three suspects.

Detective Constable Jon Stadius said: "We would like to hear from anyone who was out and about in the town early on Saturday morning and who saw this group. If you can help please call us on 101 quoting serial 0231 of 22/9. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The two robberies are not being linked to a similar offence in Lancing on the Saturday evening, 22 September. A boy has been charged in connection that offence.
