A man died and his passenger was seriously injured when their Caterham 7 car left the road and collided with a parked Land Rover Discovery on the A283 near Shoreham on Sunday morning (September 26).
 
The collision happened just after 7am on the Steyning Road, near to the old cement works. The man, a 54-year-old from Shoreham died at the scene. His passenger, his 17-year-old daughter, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital at Brighton and later transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
 
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene and the road was closed until 11.40am to allow rescue, recovery and investigation work to take place.
 
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the blue Caterham 7 in the area in the time leading up to it to call 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Amhurst.
