It is believed that he has been visiting different areas of the country in order to evade arrest and he is known to have visited Harrogate and Wetherby in recent weeks.

Wilson, who was released from prison in January after being sentenced to 13 months for theft, goes by several different aliases.

He also uses the names Ian Docherty, A McDonald, Stephen Petit, Mike Sheldon, John Stevenson, Michael Strike and Ian Wilson.

Officers are appealing for the public to keep an eye out for him and get in contact if they see him.

Inspector Mark Grange, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "Our enquiries indicate that Simon Wilson could well be in the Littlehampton area of West Sussex and I am appealing for residents in those areas to get in touch if they see him.

"We believe that he may be staying in a hotel or a B&B and I would appeal to owners or workers at guest accommodation in the area to be alert and contact the police or Crimestoppers if they spot him."

Anyone who can help locate Simon Wilson, is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110047977.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
