Valuable Urns stolen in Cocking burglary

Two valuable Urns have been stolen in a West Sussex burglary.

The Urns, believed to be worth £15,000 were taken from the garden of a house in Well Lane, Cocking Causeway, near Midhurst, which was burgled between the afternoon of Thursday 4 October and the morning of Saturday 6 October 2012.

Other items including DVDs and a fur coat were taken.

The Urns, made of lead, were part of a set of 16 designed in 1700, originally for Hampton Court Palace.

Detective Constable Andrea Watts said: "We are publishing a photograph of one of the urns, which are very distinctive, and it is hoped that people including dealers, may recognise them if they are seen stored, or are offered for sale somewhere. We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Cocking area between those two dates of 4 and 6 October".
