Search for missing Hove woman extends to Eastbourne
Police searching for missing Hove woman, Laura Chapman, now believe she may be in the Eastbourne area. They are urgently asking all proprietors of boarding houses in the area to look out for Laura and a man she is believed to be with, who both are believed to be using false names. She was seen on Monday evening, July 9, in the company of 41-year-old Stephen Webber as she left a premises in George William Mews, Portslade, at 11.31pm. He returned alone about 20 minutes later. While it is completely out of character, it is believed that she may be with Mr Webber, whom she knows through modelling for photographic assignments. However, her family and police have been unable to contact either of them and concern is growing as they are not returning telephone calls or texts. Enquiries made by detectives now lead them to believe that the couple may be staying in a bed and breakfast or similar accommodation in Eastbourne.
Detective Inspector Mick Jones from Brighton CID said today that we are asking proprietors of all such places in the Eastbourne area to look at the photos of the pair which we have published, and contact us at once if they think they have seen them or know where they are. They may be using false names. Please call us on 101 quoting Operation Aldermoor, adding our worry is that the longer that we are unable to contact the couple, then the more that we and her family become concerned for her welfare.
