Hotel 900

    The Sussex Police and Ambulance Helicopter, known as "Hotel 900" is a joint operation between Sussex Police and Sussex Ambulance Service, carrying both a police officer and a highly trained paramedic. It has been providing a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service [HEMS] to the people of West & East Sussex since 1990.
    The service is provided 365 days a year and is one of only two air ambulances in the UK [the other being the Wiltshire Police & Ambulance Helicopter] that operates a HEMS service by both day and night. [ @2006 ]

    SIMCAS stands for Surrey Sussex Immediate Care Scheme.
    Members of the scheme, a registered charity, are all doctors who volunteer their time and make themselves available to attend serious incidents as needed, at the request of the Ambulance Service.

India Juliet
H.M. Coastguard SAR Helicopter


Coastguard Helicopter, India Juliet is based at Lee on Solent and is responsible for a large area of the South Coast including West Sussex. Covering an area from Hastings to Bournemouth, plus from 9pm to 9am it also covers Poole Bay in the East, to Start Point in Devon.
Although generally used for Search and Rescue [SAR] and other maritime duties the types of emergencies attended are wide and varied. These include searching for people lost overboard from ships, vessels on fire, divers with the 'bends', people stuck on cliffs, evacuating people with various injuries from all types of vessels and situations plus transferring critically ill patients to specialist hospitals.

    India Juliet is a Sikorsky S61N with a crew of 4 [ 2 pilots, winch man, winch operator ]
    Maximum speed 150 mph, airtime endurance 4 hours.
    Seats 19 passengers, can carry up to 35 in extreme evacuation situations.
    Operational 24 hours a day 365 days a year, and is normally airborne within 3 minutes of an emergency call.

The Sussex Air Ambulance Fund is a registered charity established to relieve sick and injured people in South East England and surrounding areas by providing a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and air ambulance service for the benefit of the community.
 
Responding swiftly to 999 calls, the Sussex Air Ambulance can deliver it's highly skilled team of Doctors, Paramedics and Nurse to the scene of an accident or medical emergency within minutes.

New helicopter resource for SECAmb
 
The new air ambulance, serving Surrey and Sussex, was officially launched on Friday 8 June. It is funded by public donations to Kent Air Ambulance Trust, the charity which administers the new air ambulance. It will prove an invaluable resource to SECAmb whose Critical Care Paramedics will crew the aircraft together with a pre-hospital specialist doctor. more...
