St Mary's church

Thomas de Falconberg was, in 1238, the first recorded parish rector. Although it is thought that a church was on this site previously, the present church dates in parts from the 13th & 14thc.
Past restorations, in particular those of 1827 & 1902-03 have made most of the earlier structure not visible. The spire became unsafe and was altered in 1947.
