Steven has recently purchased this Mantle Clock from her great grandson which had inspired him to research the lady in question.

Clock gifted to Rose by patrons of the Portland Hotel, Southsea, Portsmouth.

May 1881 - Rose was born in Ross, Herefordshire.
Renamed 'Ross-on-Wye' in 1931.
Spring 1908 - Aged 27 she married Charles Vivian Ottignon at Portsmouth
1908 - Her Daughter is born, Constance Irene Ottignon Constance died in 1995 aged 87.
April 1911 - Aged 30 Rose is recorded in the census, working as a Barmaid at the Bear Hotel, West Street, Havant, Hampshire.
April 1912 - Charles Vivian Ottignon died aged 32 at Aston, Birmingham.
1915 - She married John William MacGregor
24 September 1918 - Son is born John William Clive MacGregor
19 June 1921 - Now aged 40 she lived at the Portland Tap, Kent Road, Southsea she was employed by W E Wainwright as Manageress of
the Portland Hotel, Kent Road, Southsea, Portsmouth and was presented with a ' Goodbye gift ' of a black slate mantle clock by the patrons of this hotel.
Steven recently purchased this clock from her great grandson.
c.1922 - Emigrated to New Zealand
13 January 1945 - [Sgt] John William MacGregor, died aged 58yrs
1969 - Rose Constance Clive MacGregor [nee Cole] died aged 88yrs.
She is buried Karori Cemetery in Wellington, New Zealand
