Billingshurst

A village of 8,232 [ 2011 ] lies on the A29 road, the Roman Stane Street, junction with the A272.
During WW2 there was a POW camp, known as Kingsfold Camp.
There are 4 churches, including The Unitarian chapel on High Street which was registered for worship October 1754.
The village's name derives from Anglo-Saxon which means 'a wooded hill of Billa's people', likely referring to the sandstone hillock that St Mary's Church is sited on in the centre of the village. wiki
