Railway accident
4th August 1920
Littlehampton

The 1.10 p.m. train from Ford Junction Station, which was running into Littlehampton station, when its brakes failed. The train struck and demolished the buffer stops and then a brick boundary wall behind. The locomotive came to rest with half of its length in Albert road.
There were about 30 passengers in the train, of whom 13 suffered minor injuries.
The driver, a Mr. Edwards, and fireman Chapman jumped from the engine just before the crash.
