The Rising Sun
[Stamp House]

Born in nearby Hunston, in 1895 Richard Sharpe opened a grocers in an inn at the location which became The Rising Sun.

He was an avid stamp collector and as the years progressed, his stamp collection grew and he began decorating a few picture frames with his stamps. When a customer bet him he would not be able to cover part of a room with stamps, within a certain time, he was to take up the challenge.
This was only the start he still carried on covering things such as tables and chairs.

The pub was closed and demolished in 1957 to make way for today's building. In 1983, it was renamed Stamps to celebrate it's historical background. Then called the Bersted Tavern, replaced by todays Tesco Express. [2021]

This is the first age that's ever paid much attention to the future,
which is a little ironic since we may not have one..
