SM Tidy


S.M. Tidy Ltd., Sussex was established in the 1930's by Sidney Tidy from which various other companies were formed over the years.
Main activities being civil engineering and public works
Included were road building, demolition, mains laying, plant hire, skip hire, machinery moving, haulage etc..

Leslie Whitcomb was employed as a clerk by S.M. Tidy for some years.
Knowing his expertise in photography, the company used him to record the various projects they were working on, ending up at the end of each year with twelve subjects in a calendar. During this time he took many photographs, some of which are shown here.
