Bosham

In 1086 the Domesday Book listed Bosham as one of the wealthiest manors in all England. The village is also mentioned by name on the Bayeux Tapestry when referring to King Harold.
With the discovery of a Saxon grave at the church, there is some speculation that King Harold was buried here after being killed in the Battle of Hastings, rather than Waltham Abbey.
A request to exhume a grave in Bosham church was refused in 2004.
