Shippams, East Street

Shippams have been in Chichester since Charles Shippam opened a grocery in Westgate back in 1786 and the first factory opened in 1892. This building was opened in 1911 and covered all the area from East Street to East Row until closing in 2002 when the company moved out of its city centre premises to the outskirts. Consequently, the shell of the building has been kept with the interior being converted into residences, offices and shops
