1934 Test Match - text by Peter Whitcomb
The Test Match was England against Australia in June 1934. One can make out some of the players - on the England side famous names such as Hammond, Hendren, Ames and Verity; and the Australian team with the most famous of all - Don Bradman.
The England score shows their first innings at 293 for 5 wickets, with Ames and Leyland not out. They both went on to make centuries and helping England to a total of 440. Hedley Verity was the man of the match taking 15 Australian wickets, and, for once, Bradman failing with the bat, and Australia were well beaten.
