Lombard street, to the left is Earle tobacconists. It was run until 1953 by Herbert Earle, who had taken over from his uncle, Walter John Kevis, who ran both a tobacconists and a photography business from here.

| | From 1877 to 1908 the building housed the rooftop studio of Victorian photographer Walter John Kevis. In 1950 over 5,000 of Kevis's glass negatives of local people and scenes were discovered in the building, and now form an important historical collection.
2014- Kevis House Gallery is a small exhibition space on the ground floor, run by Hodgson Events whose offices are also in Kevis House. Their programme of events include the Works on Paper Art Fair, held at the Science Museum in London each February.
