H.G. Wells worked here in 1881 when it was Cowap's Chemist Shop, note plaque on wall.
February, 1882, The Midhurst Times showed Mr Cowap, the chemist in Church Street [now Church Hill] was "plying his own brands of cough linctus, toothache tincture and chilblain liniment".
