William George Lawrence
b 1880, Alford, Surrey
died 1946, buried Northchapel

I have attached some photos of my 2nd great Grandfather William George Lawrence with some of his workmates.I have also attached a photo of Williams son James Lawrence who was goalkeeper for the Northchapel Football team with his brother-in-law James Belchamber, my Grandfather.here

William was born in Alford, Surrey 1880 he married Rose Annie Streeter, also born 1880, in 1906 in Dorking, Surrey. The family moved to Northchapel in about 1906 because my Grandmother Dorothy Annie Lawrence was born in Colhook in September that year. William may have worked on the Colhook Farm, because later the family moved to Petworth where they lived in Mile House and William worked at Frogs Farm, later working at Hosiers Farm.

The family moved back to Northchapel about the 1920's living at Firth Lodges and Cylinders Lane. William by then was a Roadman, I assume, working around the Northchapel area. These three photos are of William and his work colleagues. I assume some of the people in the photos were from Northchapel or the surrounding area. I did put these photos in the Haslemere Herald a few years ago and some kind person contacted me with some names and locations but unfortunately I have lost any notes I took at the time. William died in 1946 and is buried in the churchyard in Northchapel. William and Rose had four children Dorothy, Lillian, James and Ronald

I just found more photos you may be interested in again featuring William and family.
