Philip Anthony Spalding lived in Haslemere and certainly seemed to enjoy photo walks in West Sussex. There are a number of snaps that he took on various trips in the area, including Keeper's Hollow, Roundhurst, Blackdown, Aldworth, Charlton Forest, the Temple of the Winds, and the Cowdray Ruins. The original prints measure approximately 2" by 3". Born September 10, 1911, he was 21 years old on April 11, 1933 when he photographed Cocking but he obviously enjoyed the area because some of his other snaps are dated 1931 and 1932.

It is notable that the Mistletoe shown is still growing in these trees some 77 years later Jan 2011
