St. Margarets's Church, Rottingdean, Sussex
In 1377 French raiders attacked and burned the village. Those villagers who had taken refuge in the church were burned alive
when it too was set alight. The grey and pinkish stone on parts of the church was a result of the intense fire that must have raged.
