Blue Anchor, 24 High Street, Newhaven, Sussex - 1880, landlord Abraham Harris - Ref- 801 - click image to return - This building has been demolished.
Past Landlords included- 1851,1855-William Durrant, 1859- Henry Ransom, 1861,1866-Stephen Sheather, 1871-John Jeffries, 1878,1881-Abraham Harris,
1887- Henry M Easy, 1890,1895-George Venus, 1899-Charles Lower, 1910,1916- Montagu Lavington.
It was closed during WWI, locally it was said that the fights in the pub caused more casualties than on the Western Front. Later the Lavingtons ran a greengrocers shop here.
