Sussex, - 1920 - Ref- 535 - click image to return   At the time all the residents of Berwick referred to the main road as 'The Turnpike', not the A27 as we know it today. The modern road follows the line of the turnpike, and judging by the road's condition, it is still on the original foundations. Peter Jeffery
