Aftermath of fire at The Martins, Bury, Sussex - 21 April 1909 - Ref- 297 - click image to return   The Martins was a half timbered old farmhouse bought as a holiday home in 1899 by a London stockbroker Herbert Carr Ten years later, on 21 April 1909, it was destroyed by a fire. Subsequently Bury House was then built on the same site.
