EMail 11 June 2018 Thanks very much Phil. I'm going to print two copies for my 2 best friends as we all approach our 60th birthdays, since we used to drink at the Ship Inn aged 18ish to recent years whenever all back in Bognor. The Ship closed a few years ago, became a Morrisons local supermarket [against local opposition and loyalty to other local and traditional shops], which then closed after trading less than a year, and the building is now unused. Sad. Another detail is that opposite the Ship in the pic is AW Warrick - this became Tudor Newsagents where one of the 2 friends I mentioned Mike used to work as a paperboy in the 1970s for I think £5 a week, and the Tudor Newsagents, threatened by the opening of the Morrisons Local, actually rallied keen local support and survived it and is still going, run by Ashvin and Kalpana Patel. Victory to them! He's a local councillor, what's more, and they've had community awards for Best Service. John Eames |
