Northchapel School Photos
circa- late 1920s - 30s

These 2 photographs of Northchapel school were sent by John Belchamber of Haslemere, Surrey.

part of his message reads:-

10 Oct 2008
"I would be interested to know what one particular photo is of, as the pupils seem to be dressed for a panto or play. The other is of the children gardening.
My late uncle, Ronald Frank [Dick] Lawrence, features in both. He is the policeman in one and holding the wheelbarrow in the other. In the past I have had these put in the West Sussex Gazette."

EMail from - Martin Dillon-Thiselton [ Martin Thiselton in the school pic.]

...."Some years ago the two [above] photos of Norchapel Primary School were in the Haslemere Herald. As they were asking for names I spoke to Harry Bicknell who sadly died recently, if he knew any of them. He told me all of the garden pic names and some of the players. Two of Harry's elder brothers are in the pic but not Harry.

The names he gave me were, left to right in the garden. Stan Johnson, Reg Weeks, Ern Holden, Don Elliott, Dick Lawrence, Jim Bicknell, George Bicknell, Harold Dabbs, Gordon Jones and seated Roy Davies.

The names he gave me for the players, left to right were Dick Lawrence, ?, Jim Myram, ?, Arthur Gill and Thomas Lucking. I'm not 100% about the third from the left....it could be Jimmy Ram.

I hope these have been of some use to you.
I have only just discovered your website as I was told there was a picture of me at the school in 1966. I was born and brought up in Lurgashall and attended NCCPS until 1968"...........
