Found Memories
In the tiny English village of Heyshott,
The weary traveler can find peace and rest.
Elizabethan cottages the landscape dot
Guarding against changes, preserving the best.
The meadowlarks sing; the snapdragons snap;
The violets and buttercups secretly converse;
In simple English gardens that paint pictures
Which inspire and enhance great English verse.
The wild strawberries know how superior they are.
Kissed by the sun, these berries so coy,
Have a flavor which excels all others by far.
Blessed are they who may taste and enjoy.
Such beautiful memories can be stored away
To come back to cheer on some dreary day.

Saga of a Twentieth-Century Lute Pioneer
by Suzanne Bloch - Lute Society of America, 1969
At this time my salvation came, in the person of Diana Poulton. I had heard about this other lute player....She and her husband Tom lived in Heyshott in a wonderful little thatched-roof cottage with a garden full of herbs and flowers and a tame magpie named Jack......more
Tony Smith asks.....email - May 2006
Although it is unlikely, would anyone have
had an association with the Royal Sussex
Regiment, and knew of my Great uncle
Henry [Harry] Pledge born in Heyshott....
