HEYSHOTT West Sussex

Heyshott is situated on the lower slopes of the South Downs and easy walking distance of Cocking on the Midhurst - Chichester A286 road. A scattered village around a common which has lost its shop but still has its pub, the Unicorn and its church. It was the birthplace of Richard Cobden, the leader of the Anti-corn law league, his regular pew is marked by a small plaque in the 13th century village church dedicated to St James.
Heyshott is well known for its Harvesting the Old Fashioned Way festival occuring each September, which celebrates the agricultural history of the village. Heyshott is also well known locally for it's Bonfire and Firework display.
According to the 2001 census Heyshott parish covered 938 hectares and had 131 households with a total population of 309.
