SATURDAY 21 JANUARY - 2012

Location: NURSING HOME - BARRACK LANE, ALDWICK, BOGNOR
Incident: smell of fumes- 3 storey nursing home - large tub in kitchen emitting fumes from what is believed to be cleaning materials removed from premises by F&RS using BA and gas tight suits - 1 female adult given oxygen following the inhalation of fumes - cordon set up outside building - approx 31 elderly residents remained safely in their rooms and were medically checked over by ambulance paramedics as a precaution - WrLX2 Bognor, WrL Chichester, BASU Chichester, Red Cross Support Unit

TUESDAY 7 FEBRUARY - 2012

Location: CHALK CLIFFS, BETWEEN HOUGHTON AND AMBERLEY
Incident: Animal Rescue - dog, whippet called Amy fallen approx 25 feet down 120' cliffs - dog rescued by TRU officers using rescue equipment and lines and handed back to owner - TRU Officers x 5
Amy the dog was rescued from a cliff face by the Technical Rescue Unit from Horley fire station. The cliff had a drop of approximately 120 feet. Fortunate for Amy she only fell about 25 feet and ended up stuck fast in trees, which basically saved her life. Amy was rescued by the TRU using specialist line rescue equipment. A happy ending for her owners, who were somewhat relieved when she emerged only slightly shaken and cold from her ordeal with no injuries apart from a couple of scratches.

Location: GROUND FLOOR FLAT - WARNHAM ROAD, CRAWLEY
Incident: Fire - external gas main affected by bin fire - fire spread to communal stairwell of 3 storey block of flats --communal front door and ground floor flat window severely damaged by fire - slight smoke damage to communal stairwell and ground floor flat - 1 elderly lady rescued by F&RS using BA but didn't attend hospital - remaining occupants all evacuated - gas supply isolated by Gas Board - 4BA, 1HR by F&RS - cause of fire under investigation
